Interview with Amie SkinnerQuestion:
What made you decide to give up your career in advertising?PR and become a pilates instructor?Amie Skinner
: Having always had an interest in both physical wellbeing and sports I am still baffled as to why I chose to do my degree in PR. Alongside doing my degree I also enrolled on various health and fitness courses and worked part time in gyms and teaching classes. After just a short stint of working in PR in London, I realised that it really wasn't for me and decided to embark on a full time career in the health and fitness industry. Career I have really passion and flare for. Question:
What is pilates?Amie Skinner
: Pilates can have different meaning and purpose to different people. It can be practiced for remedial reasons, as part of a sports training program, to improve posture, as part of a balanced exercise regime and for fitness.
It essentially works to strengthen the core muscles of the body giving you deep, underlying supple strength and flexibility as well as keeping the body mechanically balanced.
Having a strong, supple core will allow for real strength to be developed by the global muscles of the body. This creates a feeling of well being and helps creates positive body aesthetics as well as helping to prevent both minor and major injuries.Question:
What do you enjoy most about pilates?Amie Skinner
: I love the way it creates a feeling of being lengthened, lean and strong yet still feminine. It gives my muscles tone and definition like no other form of exercise. And really does help to tuck and nip all those bits we love to hate.
It also increases your body awareness, demands mental strength, patience and concentration. It teaches you to be in tune with your body, the way it moves and where your physical strengths and weaknesses are. I find this to be quite empowering and give you a sense of being in control of your body.Question:
Can you explain the difference between KX Pilates and normal pilates classes?Amie Skinner
: KX Pilates is a brilliant, dynamic fusion of Pilates with intense strength and flexibility training. Combining all these disciplines with each exercise whilst using a Pilates Reformer creates a very demanding workout, increasing your heart rates and making you sweat.
Its rev's up your metabolism and is great for weight loss and body sculpting. Creating quicker results than normal Pilates and giving you a well balanced workout. For those of us who are 'time poor' it is a very time efficient workout giving you cardio, strength and Pilates training in one 50 minute blast.Question:

: A strong, lean, flexible and balanced body. As well as a sense of well being and increased body confidence.Question:
