Back to School

It's that time of year again, school time! After a long holiday break it is time to start a new school year, for some it is the first year of school and others may be starting at a new school. It is a nerve-racking time for everyone from the students and parents to teachers. Students may be worried about new teachers, different classes and new friends whilst other students may be worried about beginning high-school, VCE or even University. Whatever category you fit into after the holiday break most students and parents are ready for school to go back.

Department stores have already begun the back-to-school sales, grab the catalogues and work out which store has the overall best deals and write a list of what you need so you don't buy unnecessary items. Your list can be collated from the book-list the school has provided; you may find that some items don't need to be purchased again as they will still be in good condition from the year before. Most importantly, don't forget a lock for your locker!

One good tip is to always place a couple of $2 coins in your backpack; this is great for emergencies, like forgetting your bus money or lunch or if something else happens. You may also find it very helpful to have your bag packed, lunch organised and clothes laid out the night before- this way there will be no rush in the morning.

If you have troubles remembering your homework always write a 'to-do' list in your diary, this way you won't forget anything needed for school.

Most of the time the school year kicks off with introduction games and your new teacher will state what is expected for the coming year. This will help you understand what subjects you'll learn, what excursions you'll attend and what you need to submit to do well this year. If there are any new faces in your class make sure they feel welcome as they will be frightened and may turn out to be one of the coolest people in your grade!

For a fantastic day at school it is vital you get enough sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, take your time with work and always do homework whilst smiling enthusiastically and having fun!

For a fantastic year it is important to set yourself goals that you can work at achieving over the year. Your goals could be participating in school activities like sports and music or achieving good marks or even being on time to school every day for the whole school year.

And… remember to have fun!
