Cast:
CARLA CAMETTI:
knows her Comme De Garcon from her Issey Miyake. She also knows a Ruger from a Smith and Wesson. It's her line of work and as a female Private Detective she's a powerful mix of perfume and gunpowder.
Carla's greatest asset is the one thing that often threatens to bring her undone: her willingness to go where angels fear to tread. She's tried just about every job, travelled around the world and explored who she is. Quietly self-assured, Carla has discovered life is what you make it and she's taking her own by the horns. Not that being a Private Detective brings accolades from those close to her. Her mother thinks she's trying to give her a nervous breakdown, her best friend thinks she's underselling herself, and her various aunts and uncles are forever inquiring if she's still unemployed.
But when Luciano Gandolfi wanders into her life, she finds someone who understands. Only problem is his very appearance disturbs her with all things carnal. Worse still, he's Italian. But if she could just get over her feelings that he's arrogant, probably an oversexed philanderer and a father figure waiting to happen, she just might find true love.
DIANA GLENN: (Carla Cametti)
Glenn began her professional acting career in her hometown of Melbourne in the early nineties and is acknowledged as one of Australia's most sought-after young actors. Glenn moved to Sydney in 1999 where she worked steadily before being cast as a series regular in the cult TV series The Secret Life of Us. Around this time she was also commissioned by Arena TV to write and perform a series of 15-minute comedy sketches based on her project The Girls.
In 2003 she secured a role in the Cate Shortland directed feature More than Scarlet, before being cast as one of the leads in the 50 minute movie Lennie Cahill Shoots Through for director Paul Oliver. Her performance brought her to the attention of director Anna Reeves who cast her in the lead female role for her feature The Oyster Farmer, for which Glenn won the Best Actress Award at the St Tropez Film Festival. Glenn has also starred in several key television productions including Last Man Standing, Canal Road and The Elephant Princess.. Most recently Glenn took centre stage in the big-screen adventure thriller Black Water, a terrifying tale of survival set amidst the swamps of Northern Australia, and starred as the street-smart 'Chloe' in the controversial television series Satisfaction - season 1 and 2.
DETECTIVE SENIOR SERGEANT LUCIANO GANDOLFI:
has been seconded from Sydney to set-up the Jaguar Taskforce to investigate Melbourne gangland activity. Gandolfi has experienced enough to know most people are capable of both good and bad in the extreme. Prone to seeing the irony in everything, he uses his black sense of humour to provoke and expose. Quick with a comeback and happy to disagree, Gandolfi's main problem is that he's ridiculously smart and bored by the conventional thinking of others. He prefers working on his own simply because his lateral thinking is often misunderstood and he's not keen on explaining himself. Gandolfi is an excellent detective, his insight leading to an enviable list of arrests.
Some think he's arrogant, others see his cheekiness as a defence. Either way, Gandolfi's a walking, talking provocation. Leaving behind a failed romance with a woman who felt left in the dust of his burgeoning career, Gandolfi's not completely turned off the idea of another long-term relationship. And that's a distinct possibility from the moment he sets eyes on Carla. Only problem is she's too close to the case. No matter how much he's attracted to her (a lot) he can't act on his feelings. Well…not until the time is right…
VINCE COLOSIMO: (Detective Senior Sergeant Luciano Gandolfi)
Since graduating from Victorian College of the Arts in 1987, Colosimo has established himself as one of Australia's most celebrated actors with an impressive slate of leading roles in both film and television. Feature film credits include the vampire thriller Daybreakers, in which he starred opposite Willem Dafoe and Ethan Hawke, director Peter Cataneo's (The Full Monty) Opal Dream, director Andrew Dominik's Chopper and Ray Lawrence's acclaimed ensemble drama Lantana, for which Colosimo won the Australian Film Institute (AFI) Award for Best Supporting Actor. Colosimo also received an AFI nomination for Best Actor for his role in Tony Ayres' Walking on Water, a performance which earned him the Empire Award for Best Australian Actor. Other big screen outings include The Hard Word (with Guy Pearce and Rachel Griffiths), The Nugget, Take Away director Ridley Scott's soon-to-be released Body of Lies, in which he co-stars with Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe.
Colosimo initially caught the public's attention in director Michael Pattinson's feature Moving Out, for which he received his first AFI nomination and was subsequently named Best New Talent by the Sydney Film Critics Circle. He re-teamed with Pattinson on Street Hero.
His television portfolio includes the top-rating Australian drama series The Secret Life of Us, along with After the Deluge, Secret Bridesmaid's Business, MDA, Two Twisted and most recently Nine Network's hit drama Underbelly, in which he starred as 'Alphonse Gangitano.' He has also appeared on US television in The Practice and on the crime series Without a Trace as well as the US blockbuster, Body of Lies, where he starred opposite Leonardo Dicaprio.
LISA TESTRO
is Carla's best friend, flat mate and daughter of the local crime boss. Lisa seems to have it all. Brought up in a loving Italian family, sent to good schools, Law at Melbourne University, straight into a well paid job at a respected law firm and engaged to an equally high achiever, it seems strange that on the eve of her nuptials she decides to take a lover. Unless you know her.
Lisa and Carla have been friends since childhood and it's Carla she turns to when her world starts to wobble, particularly since the recent death of her beloved mother. Yes, she's bright, hard working, honest, fun but she is also terribly confused. Unlike Carla, Lisa has never explored the idea of who she is or what she wants, she was certain from ten years of age and she's never looked back.
And she sees her small acts of craziness as blips on an otherwise perfect horizon, until their frequency and her recklessness increases. Because despite all the good schools, the lovely home and endless opportunities, as daughter of a major crime boss, Lisa has spent her life in silent fear and loathing, none of which is of her own making.
NICOLE DA SILVA (Lisa Testro)
Sydney-based Nicole Da Silva graduated from University of Western Sydney, Theatre Nepean in 2003 with a Bachelor of Performance before heading overseas to further her studies at the London Academy of Film, TV and Radio

In 2007 Da Silva starred in the big-screen feature, The List, directed by actor/writer Joel Edgerton.
TONY CAMETTI
is Carla's uncle and Leo's younger brother. He is a complicated man with many secrets. On the surface he's got a wife, three children and lives in a nice, well appointed house, but underneath he's a leading figure in the Melbourne underworld - and underneath that lies an even deeper secret - he's bi-sexual - and well and truly 'in the closet'. Containing his sexual persuasion means he bubbles with a constant frustration and his propensity for violent outbursts is well known by his family but not at all understood.
Tony sees his niece Carla as a troublemaker and is constantly urging his brother Leo to keep her under control. But the fact he ignores his requests is, to Tony, just another example of Leo lacking balls. With all his hidden agendas, you'd expect Tony to be a shadowy figure in the Cametti clan but if there's ever a family stoush, you can bet Tony's the one stirring the pot and it's left to his mother to hose him down. And yet - he's loyal to the end - to family and friends. But let's just it's better to be on his side than against him.
ROBERT MAMMONE (Tony Cametti)
Over the past 20 years, Mammone has built an enviable career as a respected actor both in Australia and abroad. He has appeared in several international feature films, including the Matrix Series with Keanu Reeves and Lawrence Fishbourne, The Great Raid with Benjamin Bratt and Joseph Fiennes, Salem's Lot with Rob Lowe and Donald Sutherland, Vertical Limit directed by Martin Campbell, Stephen King's Nightmares and Dreamscapes, and the 2007 action thriller The Condemned. Closer to home, he starred alongside Susie Porter in director Sandra Sciberras' romantic feature Caterpillar Wish, as well as the television drama Blackjack: At the Gates and the hit Foxtel series Dangerous.
Mammone's most recent TV credits include The Starter Wife, in which he co-starred with Debra Messing and Miranda Otto, Nine Network's Underbelly and Satisfaction.
JOE TESTRO
flaunts himself around town as a well-respected member of Melbourne society, but not everyone knows he is in fact the most powerful and feared member of a loosely connected crew of Melbourne underworld criminals.
Having spent the first eight years of his childhood in southern Italy, which never truly recovered from the war, he's seen the dirt-poor existence of the peasants and therefore has lofty aspirations for himself and his family; made all the more imperative since the premature death of his adored and devoted wife Marisa. He's still riding his grief and some days it gets the better of him, particularly as he helps plan his only daughter Lisa's wedding. An imposing man, Joe is difficult to overlook and he has a bevy of female admirers, including Carla's mother, Angela.
But one should never underestimate Joe. He is a scary, troubled, deeply violent man whose niceties are genuinely only skin deep. For all his loyalty to family and contributions to high profile charities, this is a man with a very dark side…one that, if you want to stay alive, it's better never to have seen.
TONY POLI (Joe Testro)
A seasoned veteran of stage and television, Poli graduated from National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in 1985 and since that time, has barely, in an acting sense, paused for breath.
A love of theatre has led him to star in numerous stage shows and as such his impressive theatrical resume includes productions for Melbourne Theatre Company (Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It), Sydney Theatre Company (Dr Faustus, Siren, Pentecost, The White Devil NY Tour, Summer of the Seventeenth Doll, The Removalists)Belvoir Street Theatre (Little Like Drowning) and State Theatre Company of South Australia (The Club, Exotic Pleasures, Theatre of Image, The Taming of the Shrew).
Over the past two decades Poli has further demonstrated his versatility with a diverse slate of television performances which encompass Fields of Fire II, Acropolis Now, Operation Phoenix, G.P., Empassy, Secrets, Water Rates, Murder Call, Home and Away and Stingers.
LEO CAMETTI
is Carla's beloved father. Happily married to his wife Angela since the age of twenty, Leo still feels lust for her and will do anything to make her happy; except side with her when it comes to the direction of Carla's life. As the oldest son, inheriting the family restaurant meant casting aside his greatest love - opera singing. Frequently at the end of a busy day in the restaurant, he can be found alone and singing, summoning up the spirit of Don Giovanni. But that's not to say he isn't dedicated to the family business; it's what keeps him in touch with the neighbourhood and earns him respect.
ALFREDO MALABELLO (Leo Cametti)
Perth-based Alfredo Malabello makes his television debut as Leo Cametti, Carla's gentle, peace-loving father in Carla Cametti PD.
Born into an Italian family in Adelaide, Malabello has a background as a singer/musician and in 1981 joined The Rhythms, a new-wave punk band who toured the east coast of Australia supporting acts such as Midnight Oil, Hunters and Collectors, INXS, Cold Chisel, Australian Crawl, UB40, Divinyls, Mental as Anything and The Cure over a period of three years.

Malabello also works as a music producer recording singer songwriters, bands and composing music scores for short films and documentaries. In the last two years he has scored a total of 30 short films and documentaries and in 2006 was nominated at the 2006 WA Screen Awards for Best Original Film Score. In 2008 Malabello produced La Gioia Della Fede (The Joy of Faith), a collection of original Italian songs and spoken poems of faith, which was released through
Colossal Records Australia.
ANGELA CAMETTI,
Carla's mother, thinks that it's important to feel sexy. Mindful of her once perfect but now aging assets, Angela is determined to keep herself looking good. She also dreams of escaping the restaurant and leading a more adventurous life. She'd really like Carla to give up being a Private Detective, finish her university degree, get a nice job and settle down. But on closer inspection, it's obvious Angela is more than a little envious of the freedom Carla enjoys, for the truth is, Angela wishes she'd made some very different choices in her life.
DINA PANOZZO (Angela Cametti)
A seasoned performer, the vivacious Panozzo has a lengthy list of stage credits which have seen her take lead roles with Adelaide Theatre Group, State Theatre Company of South Australia, Belvoir Street Theatre, Playbox and Melbourne Theatre Company in productions such As A Winter's Tale, Jack the Ripper, Don't Stand on Ceremony, IL Magnifico, Richard III A Touch of Silk, Peter Pan, Dreams in an Empty City, A Little Like Drowning, The Garden of Granddaughters and Anna in the Tropics.

Other big screen appearances include Bedevil, The Man Who Sued God, and writer/director Jan Sardi's nostalgic romance, Love's Brother.
MATT BRODIE
too often, has been led down the wrong path. Luckily for Carla, she saw his 'spots' early on and although he was her first love, she took the 'high' road when he started to push the reckless abandonment of their early twenties into a more dangerous and potentially criminal territory. But that's not to say that these two still don't consider the 'what-ifs' of their past.
One of Joe Testro's crew, Matt's the guy who'll happily drive to a deal in Sydney on a moment's notice, carry a bag without asking questions or take his little nephew to footy practice. He's a serious young man with a strong sense of duty and although he's not without humour, he's quicker to anger than laughter. Matt has earned a great deal of respect in the organization for someone so young and he's been rewarded.
SULLIVAN STAPLETON (Matt Brodie)
Sullivan Stapleton's talent and leading man persona, have led to numerous film and television roles since embarking on a professional acting career in the mid-nineties.

Stapleton previously starred opposite Diana Glenn in Satisfaction.
GEORGINA KAVEL
is a go-getter who embraces life and people with unquestioning warmth. She has a heart of gold, swears like an old sailor and is a loyal and trusted friend. A girl who just wanted to have fun, Georgina left school at 16, did a make-up/hairdressing course and loved the socialising and gossip of her work.
She met Jack at a nightclub when she was out with girlfriends one night after work. Utterly smitten with Jack, a larrikin crim on the make, Georgina somewhat naively adopted the life of a gangster girlfriend. When Jack introduced her to his good friend, Matt, Georgina and Carla immediately hit it off. Carla introduced her to Lisa and the three of them were briefly very tight - when Matt and Carla broke up however, they drifted apart. When they get
