Rated: MFollowing the story of Tom, a writer who attempts to re-discover the love he once had for his mother by retracing the steps back to the tumultous events of his childhood. The tale which subsequently unfolds is epic, spanning continents and decades.

At its hear is Rose (Joan Chen), a Shanghai nightclub singer who arrives, without money or English, in surburban Australia of the 1960s with two children and little other than her seductive beauty as their chief means for survival.

As is the case with so many remarkable stories 'The Home song Stories' is inspired by true-life events, in this instance the experiences of the film's writer/director Tony Ayres. Tony's previous film 'Walking on Water' received great critical accalim, winning the Teddy Award at the Berlin Film Festival, five AFI Awards, two Film Critics' Circle Awards and an IF Award. His script for 'The Home Song Stories' won the prestigious Screenplay Prize at the 2007 NSW Premier's Awards.

'The Home Song Stories' boasts an exceptionally talented cast starring: Joan Chen and newcomers Joel Lok and Irene Chen,Qi Yuwu and wonderful performances from Steven Vidler and Kerry Walker.
