Dove Pink Star Walk; 5,000 Bras Walked Under the Stars

On Saturday evening 7th October 2006, 5,000 amazing Sydneysiders decked themselves in pink and proudly displayed their decorated bras at the first ever Dove Pink Star Walk, to raise awareness and funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

After pre-event entertainment and warm up exercises on stage in Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour and a spectacular pink fireworks display in Cockle Bay, Big Brother host Gretel Killeen led the pack of men, women, children and families of all ages and fitness levels on the fun and unique 5km stroll through the Sydney CBD at night.

Ensuring a night of fun and frivolity, a group of Style Police were placed along the route awarding prizes for the most outlandish outfits and best dressed bras on the night – and there certainly were plenty of those! A group of ladies created a giant bra on a stick to remember those loved ones that they had lost to breast cancer and young girls wore pink bikini’s with matching tutus. A number of men were even spotted wearing pink wigs with bra’s over their t-shirts. It certainly was a night to remember!

After winding round a beautiful scenic route along Darling Harbour, through Circular Quay and past the Opera House, the 5km Dove Star Walk finished in the Tarpeian Precinct, Macquarie Street adjacent to the Royal Botanic Gardens where more prizes were awarded on stage and goody bags were given to all those that participated.
