Education Programming Moves to ABC3

From Monday July 21st, ABC TV will move children's educational programming from ABC1 to the dedicated children's channel ABC3.

This move will allow ABC TV to double its educational offering by increasing the block to two hours. A range of learning programs will now air weekdays from 10.00am to 12.00pm on ABC3 during school terms.

The new two-hour block, ABC TV Education, will offer inspiring programming, respond to a broad and diverse curriculum and showcase the best learning content available. In addition, ABC TV Education aims to broadcast programs that have supporting materials including streaming rights, study guides relating to the curriculum and further website content. For teachers, this is a valuable addition to the education experience on ABC TV.

Behind The News (BTN) will remain ABC TV's flagship educational program. Screening three times a week, BTN is easily accessible for school teachers and younger audiences.
"The expanded timeslots on ABC3 allow us to offer more content for both primary and secondary students in multiple subject areas. We will provide dynamic, award-winning programming that encourages curiosity, bringing learning into our lives beyond the classroom," says Deirdre Brennan, ABC TV Head of Children's Television.

ABC TV has been broadcasting to schools for over 40 years and aims to remain a valued resource to over 60% of all schools, particularly in rural and remote communities.
