Fiona Tuck Venus Skin Expert Smoothing Interview

Question: Were you surprised that 'women make around 15 choices before breakfast"?

Fiona Tuck: No it does not, most of us lead such busy lifestyles that we tend to multitask and over think. The busier we are, the busier our minds so it doesn't surprise me at all.

Question: How can we take care of our skin to eliminate some of those decisions in the morning?

Fiona Tuck: To avoid time consuming routines, choose a razor that is specifically designed to suit your skin and your lifestyle. Advanced shaving tools allow you the choice to incorporate technology such as flexible razor heads, ergonomically designed handles, moisture glide ribbons, multiple blades, in-built combs to perfectly match the right razor to your skin type.

Venus & Olay is a great time saver, as it delivers skin conditioners as it shaves, smoothing skin – so we can all choose to smooth in the shortest time possible.

Question: How can we achieve that 'touchably soft, smooth, summer skin"?

Fiona Tuck: Smooth the skin prior to shaving with warm water and a good quality shaving gel. Warm water softens the skin and the hair to give a smoother shave. Many women make the mistake of using soap or shower gels to shave with which leave the skin dry, sensitised and prone to nicks and cuts. A shaving gel is designed to give added hydration, slip and coverage to the skin to ensure silky smooth skin

Apply a fragrance free body moisturiser whilst the skin is still damp after showering to lock in extra moisture for a silky, smooth hydrated skin. Wait for at least an hour after skin smoothing before using any heavily fragranced body sprays, deodorants or fake tans to avoid any skin sensitivity or stinging sensations.

Question: What is -smoothing'?

Fiona Tuck: Smoothing is next level shaving – beyond just nixing the stubble – smoothing delivers touchably softer, smoother skin every time you shave. Venus is taking the hair removal game to a new level by inviting women to Choose to Smooth, offering a customised beauty experience, which focuses not only on removing the hair, but taking care of skin.

Question: How can we customise our smoothing routine?

Fiona Tuck: It's all about picking the right shaving tools. For example, if your skin is dry choose a razor with a built in moisture glide ribbon, sensitive, choose a multiple blade razor head, time poor, choose a portable razor such as the Venus Snap that doesn't need to be used with shaving gel.

Question: How important is food to our skin health?

Fiona Tuck: The condition of the skin is a reflection of our internal health. What we put into our bodies on a daily basis will show through our skin. Include goods fats such as nuts, seeds, oily fish and avocados to keep the skin soft and smooth and include plenty of antioxidant and fibre rich fruits and vegetables to keep the skin clear and glowing.

Question: What is a Nutritional Medicine Practitioner?

Fiona Tuck: A nutritionist that looks at food as medicine. I take a holistic approach to health and wellbeing and aim to get to the root cause of the problem and treat that where possible via diet and nutrition.

Question: What's a typical day like, for you?

Fiona Tuck: My day is so varied it may involve client consultations, writing, meeting with media, product launches, consulting with health brands or public speaking. Every day is so varied and exciting; I really love what I do.

Question: What's next for you?

Fiona Tuck: I am currently in the process of publishing my first nutrition and wellness book called The Forensic Nutritionist. The book is due out mid next year and takes an in-depth look at recognising nutritional deficiencies via reading the subtle signs and symptoms of our bodies such as food cravings, skin anomalies, hair, nail and tongue analysis.
