Children Vs 'Thomas the Tank Engine"
The second annual Kids Fun Run with 'Thomas' on Sunday 19th October, 2003 in Gembrook, Melbourne. The Fun Run looks set to be bigger and better than last year. Once again children will have the chance to battle it out with their hero 'Thomas' and Australian icon Puffing Billy.
After seeing the adults go up against Puffing Billy in the Great Train Race we thought it was time the kids have their go! Held in the picturesque Dandenong Ranges, this exciting and unique event will see four individual age groups run with 'Thomas the Tank Engine' (agese 4 & under, 5-6 & 7-8) and Puffing Billy (ages 9-12). The Great Train Race is over 13 kms, however these fun runs are much more manageable for the young participants, covering distances of 300m, 800m and 1500m.
In addition to offering fun and entertainment for children, the purpose of the Kids Fun Run with 'Thomas' is to raise funds for the Starlight Children's Foundation. Money raised this year will be used to deliver a Starlight fun centre at William Angliss Hospital in Ferntree Gully.
The kids fun run with 'Thomas' will be a fantastic and enjoyable family day out, with entertainment, market stalls, jumping castles, clowns, music, BBQ's and much more. Kids should keep a special eye out for Sir Topham Hatt, the Fat Controller.
