King Charles Loose Change For A Boatman

London-based artist King Charles is set to command the world of pop folk with his second album, Gamble for a Rose. A different person to the one who released extraordinary debut album Loveblood in 2012, not only has his appearance changed but his music and outlook are underpinned by a need to rediscover the root of his musical passion that started with a collaborative focus.

The first track to be unveiled from -Gamble For A Rose' is the album opener -Loose Change For A Boatman'. This is a passionate love song which builds and builds before exploding into riotous, arena-leveling colour.

The release follows Charles' biggest tour to date, a 28 nights in 28 days extravaganza that ended in triumph as he headlined the London Forum. Emboldened, one of the first things he said to his friend Marcus Mumford following the tour was, 'I want to make the album I should have made five years ago." Charles and Marcus began demoing songs, with Marcus declaring the whole idea of the project to be 'music to my ears". Taking their production to England's rural heartland, the two artists constructed a makeshift studio and invited old friends to jam with including Charlie Fink and Tom Hobden (Noah and the Whale) and Winston Marshall (Mumford & Sons).

Charles' recording story began in 2010 when a few months after a near-fatal skiing accident he won Grand Prize at the International Songwriting Competition for a piece called -Love Lust'. Soon after he signed to Universal in America and relocated to LA where he made his debut album -Love Blood' with Matthew Wilder (No Doubt, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson). All was thundering along, but lingering problems from the accident remained. It was a remarkable time that produced a remarkable record, but it wasn't true to Charles' artistic roots, so he decided to leave his label and management to find out what was. -Gamble For A Rose' is a passionate, honest record fit for a King.

King Charles is set to release his second album -Gamble For A Rose' on 22nd January 2016, through Buffalo Gang via Kobalt Label Services.
