Mulan's Oriental Stir Fry Noodles
Did you know that Disney's much-loved heroine Mulan comes from China? Well, the Chinese are famed for many great things - great warriors like Mulan, great emperors, The Great Wall of China and great food!

If your family likes Chinese food, this is a delicious Chinese recipe that you can try at home and one that easy enough for an older child to do (with supervision of course!)

So wok up a storm in your kitchen with Mulan's easy recipe of oriental stir-fry noodles!

You will need the following ingredients and equipment, which can be found either at your supermarket or an Asian grocer.

Ingredients
1 red capsicum
1 bunch of bok choy
2 carrots
1 can of baby corn
4 cloves of garlic
I kilogram of Hokkien noodles
500 grams of chicken
300 grams of fish cakes
Thick soy sauce
Normal soy sauce
1 tablespoon of oil

Equipment
1 large wok
1 sharp knife
1 wooden spoon
1 garlic crusher - optional
1 chopping board

Method

Step 1 - Preparation
Cut the carrots and capsicum intro strips, and pull apart the bok choy. Open the can of tinned corn and drain the liquid. Peel and crush the garlic. Cut the chicken into bite size pieces and slice the fish cakes into thin strips.

Step 2 - Cooking
Pour oil into wok and place over high heat. Add garlic and stir fry until fragrant, then add the chicken. Cook until chicken is seared all over. Add fish cakes and cook for a further minute. Then add the carrots, capsicum and baby corn and continue to stir for a further 2 minutes or until vegetables are soft. Add a little bit of water or chicken stock if you prefer.

Stir in the noodles and thoroughly mix through. Add bok choy and mix through until it is wilted. Add a generous amount of thick soy sauce and normal soy sauce according to taste. Mix through until the soy sauce is evenly spread and the colour of the noodles is even.

Step 3 - Enjoy!
Oriental noodles are best enjoyed in big bowls and try your hand at eating them with chopsticks. The best way to enjoy this meal is with a nice cool glass of green tea.

To create a truly Oriental atmosphere, hang some paper lanterns, which you can get cheaply from a $2 shop. You can also get some fortune cookies to place at the side of each bowl.

All that's left to do is to sit down enjoy your Oriental Mulan feast and afterwards, watch Mulan 2 on DVD!

Mulan 2 and the Mulan Special Edition are now yours to own on DVD from all major DVD and video retailers.
