Treasure Planet
The Legend, The Lore, The Loot

Expertly hand-drawn animation, incredible 3D "virtual effects" and compelling storytelling combine in Disney's TREASURE PLANET, a daring and imaginative journey across a fantasy universe coming to video and DVD on 21 May 2003.

A futuristic Disney twist on one of the greatest stories ever told - Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island", TREASURE PLANET follows rebellious teenager Jim Hawkins as he takes a fantastic journey across a parallel universe in search of the greatest pirate trove in the galaxy.

More than four years in the making, TRASURE PLANET was directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, the team responsible for THE LITTLE MERMAID, ALADDIN and HERCULES and features the vocal talents of Emma Thompson, David Hyde Pierce, Martin Short, Brian Murray and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Fifteen year-old Jim Hawkins joins the crew of an intergalactic expedition manned by aliens as a cabin boy aboard a space galleon, the 'RSL Legacy'. The expedition is launched from an amazing 18th Century style port city ringed by a space station from where huge dramatic space galleons are launched. Through spectacular animation, the "Legacy" unfurls its solar sails and heads into the Etherium passing a pod of amazing space creatures in the form of majestic flying whales.

Aboard, Jim is befriended by the ships cook, a cyborg (part man, part machine) named John Silver, and begins to show the makings of a fine 'spacer' under Silver's guidance as he and the alien crew battle supernovas, black holes and ferocious space storms.

But even greater dangers lie ahead when Jim discovers that his trusted friend Silver is actually a scheming pirate with mutiny in mind.Confronted with a betrayal that cuts deep, Jim is transformed from a boy to man as he finds the strength to face down the mutineers while Silver becomes torn between loot and friendship.

The film's soundtrack features two songs from Goo Goo Dolls front-man John Reznik. An emotional and humorous, yet thought-provoking story with great Disney characters, TREASURE PLANET will manage to capture the hearts and imaginations of young and old.
