THE DANA PLATO MEMORIAL SITE
www.sitcomsonline.com/danaplato.html

Dana Plato became a huge star in the early 1980's starring with Gary Coleman in the long- running sitcom different strokes as Kimberley Cooper. When she became pregnant to rock musician Lanny Lambert she was summarily sacked from the show. Soon afterwards her mother died and her marriage to Lanny fell apart. She appeared in Playboy, was convicted for armed robbery in Las Vegas and appeared in a series of B-grade soft porn flicks before her death last year of a prescription pill overdose. Dana's tragic life cast a shadow over Hollywood and it's vicious exploitation of child stars.

JANE AUSTEN FANS
www.pemberley.com.au

Welcome to the republic of Pemberley, a haven for Jane Austen's novels and the films adapted from them. There's places to meet with and talk to other fans. The Jane Austen information page is the Nets Premier Austen site and has the text versions of all six novels and many of her shorter works, as a well as a terrific biography. Perhaps best of all. Is the collection of Austen's private letters which display her wit and intelligence and her delicious sense of irony - "I do not want people to be agreeable, as it saves me the trouble of liking them a great deal."

IT'S THE WACKY RACES
www.hotlink.com/wacky

One of the best children's cartoons of the 60's was Hanna-Barbera's wacky races. Loosely basd on the hit film The Great Race, the plot was fiendishly simple. Eleven outlandish characters raced around the globe against each other, to become the worlds wackiest racer. In each episode the evil Dick Dastardly and his untrustworthy dog Muttley would go to foolish lengths to win the race, but were never successful. An interesting bit of trivia from the website is that the voice of Dastardly, Paul Winchell, also played Fleagle in the Banana Splits.
