VAMFF Premium Runway How To Guide

Priceline Pharmacy is the Hair and Beauty Partner for the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF). As part of the sponsorship, Priceline Pharmacy Makeup Director, Rae Morris, and Priceline Pharmacy Hair Director, Kenneth Stoddart, have created all the hair and beauty looks for the premium runway shows.

Please see below for Rae and Kenneth's -how to' guides for each of the looks seen on the runway last night, including product picks.

Premium Runway 5 – Saturday 12 March, 8pm

The Look: Night time winged eye

Step 1: Apply a dewy foundation to create creamy shiny skin.

Step 2: Highlight with the luminiser along the cheek bone.

Step 3: Apply Revlon PhotoReady Creme Blush Number 100 to cheek bone

Step 4: Apply a silver eyeshadow on the inner corner of the eye, with minimal blending away from centre of the eye.

Step 5: Use a fine line pen in black on outer third of eye tapered to a small flick at the end of the eye.  Finish the eyes with a creamy coloured pencil on the inner rim of the eye.

Step 6: Apply lots of mascara and comb through any areas that become stuck together.

Step 7: Leave the brow natural, fill any gaps if required.

Step 8: Keep the lips neutral and matte.

Tip – Apply eye makeup first, so if there is any fallout around the eye area from the eye shadow, you can easily clean up with a cleanser, than apply foundation.

Hair: Add extensions into your hair to give it body and fullness. Blow dry the hair in sections from the bottom to the top and pin each section at the root as you go. Once complete, take out the pins and brush the hair through. Starting at the front, brush the hair back off the face tightly into a very neat low ponytail. Secure with an elastic. Wrap a cloth headband over your hair and secure just underneath the ponytail to finish.

Premium Runway 6 – Sunday 13 March, 6:30pm

The Look: Matte, matte and more matte.

Step 1: Apply a minimal amount of liquid foundation. Conceal only if needed, this look is about less, so minimal concealing. Powder face to remove any shine.

Step 2: Using a contour palette, very softly contour under the cheek bone.

Step 3: Apply a neutral coloured shadow over the eyelids to softly contour them

Step 4: Brush brow up and leave natural

Step 5: Finish with a neutral matte lip.

Tip – If you are someone that has gappy brows, apply minimal amounts of brow powder. Leaving the front area of the brow completely natural rather than filled.

Hair: Apply a salt spray through damp hair and dry into hair.  Using a straightening iron, take a vertical section at front and place the iron diagonally across the section about 1-2 inches away from the root. Close the iron and slide down the hair for about 2 inches. Repeat this technique further down the hair. On the next section, repeat except wind the hair in the opposite direction. Continue throughout the hair and then rake through with your fingers. Make sure you don't curl the ends of the hair. Use some light hairspray or texturizing milk to finish the hair.

Premium Runway 7 – Sunday 13 March, 8:30pm

The Look: Statement eyes

Step 1: Apply a liquid foundation. Conceal where needed and powder lightly.

Step 2: Using a contour palette, contour under the cheek bones.

Step: 2: Powder eyelids with a neutral colour slightly darker than your skin tone. Apply a silver glitter eyeshadow to outer edges of eye area to make a statement!

Step 3: Minimal mascara if you have light coloured lashes.

Step 4: Brush and very lightly fill brows with powder for a soft full shape.

Tip – Once you have applied glitter, remove glitter fallout on the face with sticky tape.

Hair: Apply some mousse to slightly damp hair. Comb through with a wide tooth comb. Either rake back into a high ponytail or leave out and allow to dry naturally for a wet looking texture.
