Violet Vanishes

Award-winning author Ursula Dubosarsky's brilliant new series, bridging the gap between picture books and junior fiction.

Violet loves watching magic tricks. But when her mum takes her to see a magician, Violet becomes the star of the show!

This exciting new series, written by Ursula Dubosarsky and illustrated by Annie White, offers children their first experience of reading real novels. The stories are approximately 650 words, comparable with many picture books, but the books are structured like novels four chapters, each ending on a major development or twist. Above all, the stories are about real experiences in settings familiar to 5- to 7-year-olds. This series has both kid and parent appeal, and will be highly collectable.

Internationally renowned author Ursula Dubosarsky has won numerous awards for both her fiction and non-fiction. Her name guarantees quality parents and teachers can trust. She has been published to acclaim in the UK, North America and Europe. Her books include The Word Spy, The Red Shoe and The Terrible Plop.

Annie White is a Melbourne-based illustrator who has illustrated over fifty books for children. After studying Art and Design, she worked in advertising before moving into illustration work full-time. Annie enjoys working in a variety of illustrative fields and her work has appeared on posters, cards, rubber stamps, magazines and murals. She likes to communicate ideas clearly and simply using expression, movement and a touch of quirkiness. Her books have been published internationally.
