Reilly Fitzalan We Don’t Need Ya Launch

Venue:Some Velvet Morning
Date:October 29th

Reilly Fitzalan releases first single ‘We Don’t Need Ya’ from his debut EP ‘Dead Arrows’ launched @ Some Velvet Morning, October 29th

From the first few notes of We Don’t Need Ya you realise the raw power and sheer potential of Reilly Fitzalan. The Byron Bay based singer songwriter has independently developed himself over the past few years as not only an outstandingly poetic songwriter but also a performer that can captivate his audiences from the very first note.

The single ‘We Don’t Need Ya’ is the perfect introduction to Reilly. Grungy, passionate and filled with catchy guitar riffs and vocals, Reilly’s musical and vocal ability is perfectly showcased. The singles epic instrumentation, courtesy of the EP’s producer - friend and musical visionary Daniel Pinkerton, provides just a taste of what is to come on the debut EP Dead Arrows, which will leave you desperately wanting more.

Written at a time in his life when the people that he needed most were not to be seen, Reilly came to understand that rather than needing certain people, all he really needed was himself, and hence was born ‘We Don’t Need Ya’. The depth of emotion in the songs lyrics and his vocal performance provides yet another glimpse of Reilly’s song writing abilities which shines through the entire EP.

‘We Don’t Need Ya’ is set to be released on the 30th of September and will be accompanied by a single launch on the 29th of October at Some Velvet Morning.

Tex Perkins and Charlie Owen

Venue:The Yarraville Club: 135 Stephen St Yarraville
Date:Saturday 24th October
Time:Dinner doors 7pm. Show Doors at 8:30pm. Whole show finishes by 11:15pm.

Yarraville Live and Cherry Rock are proud to announce the return of Tex Perkins and Charlie Owen to the New West's favourite live venue, Yarraville Club on Saturday, October 24.

Tex Perkins has played a key role in Australian music, with a career that has taken in everything from the ground breaking experimental punktonica of Sydney mid-80s noiseniks Thug to the lilting, dark country of his recent material with The Dark Horses, from the hard edged pub rock of the Beasts Of Bourbon, to the evocative soundscapes of The Cruel Sea, Tex has heralded the emergence of an entirely original yet archetypal Australian sound.

In the early 90s, Perkins joined forces with the legendary Don Walker, Cold Chisel’s pianist and master songwriter, and Charlie Owen, previously Australia’s best kept musical secret, for the unforgettable Tex, Don & Charlie.

Once again Tex and his good friend Charlie Owen will team up for this intimate show that promises a night not to be missed.

22nd Annual Thredbo Blues

Date:15th to 17th January 2016
Booking:www.thredbo.com.au or 1300 020 589.

Fresh off the back of an outstanding season of winter headline acts, The Preatures, The Rubens and Gang of Youths, Thredbo’s dream run of musical talent continues into summer, as the alpine region announces one of the most celebrated Blues festival line-ups to date. Featuring twenty-five of Australia’s greatest blues acts including Russell Morris, Andy Just (USA) and Gail Page, the family friendly resort proves its offerings are just as impressive when the snow has melted.

From 15th to 17th January 2016, Thredbo will be thriving with Blues fans and their families, as the event highlights the region’s year-round offering. This summer, Thredbo is also pleased to announce the return of Aria Hall of Fame inductee, #1 selling artist and Australian Icon Russell Morris, back due to popular demand. In contrast, this year’s event will also feature Thredbo Blues first timer and one of the hardest working musicians on the blues scene today, the spectacular Andy Just.

Set to showcase many of Australia’s top ladies in blues, including Fiona Boyes who has received four successive USA Blues Music Awards nominations, The Voice’s Gail Page and powerfully raw songstress Genevieve Chadwick, Thredbo Blues is one not to be missed.

Thredbo Blues is also excited to welcome The Pearl Show to the stage for the first time in 2016, offering a vintage funk tour delving into the music, obsessions and passions of Janis Joplin. Celebrating a woman who exploded onto the music scene in the late 1960’s to quickly become the queen of rock ‘n’ roll and mother of thrift shop vintage funk, fans will re-live Joplin’s rebellious lifestyle and her distinctive voice with the group’s powerful renditions.

Black Diva Power

Fee:$69.90 (full) and $59.90 (concession)

Ruth Rogers-Wright will take on the roles of both NINA SIMONE and BILLIE HOLIDAY in the staging of BLACK DIVA POWER, two compelling productions in one night starring the critically acclaimed powerhouse singer/actor, directed by Chris Baldock and touring theatres in regional Victoria and South Australia, with one landmark metro performance in Adelaide in October, 2015.
Proudly presented by Art Events Australia and Brad Hopes Promotions, Black Diva Power brings to life the powerful characters and music of jazz legends with Rogers-Wright performing the songs of the great BILLIE HOLIDAY before transforming into a mesmerising NINA SIMONE.
Fresh from Edinburgh Festival and the hit of Adelaide Cabaret Festival, award-winning playwright Neil Cole’s portrayal of musical storyteller and passionate civil rights activist, NINA SIMONE features Rogers-Wright in an astonishingly profound performance as one of the most extraordinary artists of all time, focusing on Simone’s friendship with Lorraine Hansberry, playwright (A Raisin In The Sun) and black activist, putting this play in the running for the Amnesty International Freedom of Speech Award.
Testament to her performance, a TW Edinburgh critic wrote, “I hope that in the not-too-distant future, an actor playing the legend of Ruth Rogers-Wright will do the same.”
Accompanied by a three-piece backing band headed by musical director Mark Fitzgibbon, Rogers-Wright will open the show with an intimate insight into the seminal influence of BILLIE HOLIDAY on jazz and pop music, touching on the tumultuous upbringing of the woman they called Lady Day.
Described in Broadway Baby as “spectacular”, the vocals of Ruth Rogers-Wright take the audience on an absorbing journey through the music of two early 20th century greats.
Australia’s eminent pianist and composer Mark Fitzgibbon is reunited with Rogers-Wright when he joins the tour as Musical Director, giving audiences a full live music experience as part of a three-piece backing band which includes himself on piano, a double-bassist and drummer.
Lauded as one of the most swinging, insightful pianists that Australia has produced, he was born into a strong entertainment tradition, being the son of well-known Australian entertainer, jazzman and restaurateur Graham "Smacka" Fitzgibbon, nephew to actress/singer Maggie Fitzgibbon and grandson to pianist vaudevillian Min Fitzgibbon.

James Reyne Cup Eve Show

Venue:The Corner Hotel
Date:November 2nd, 2015

Music lovers, it’s been three years in the planning, and has all the makings of an annual tradition … announcing James Reyne’s Cup Eve at The Corner Hotel, Monday November 2.

The last time Reyne played The Corner Hotel it was with good mate Mark Seymour for three SOLD OUT nights.  Such a good time was had by all, James was determined to revisit this legendary venue – bring on Cup Eve, one of the most significant dates on the Melbourne live music calendar!

In a recent facebook post James writes, “We have been trying to organise a Melbourne Cup Eve show we can make our own, and set up as an annual event, for the past three years. FINALLY this year we have secured The Corner Hotel on Monday Nov 2.

Live (supported by Chocolate Starfish)

Venue:Forum Theatre
Date:Thursday, 19th November

Live are headlining a ‘’one off’’ show in Melbourne and this is the first time Australian audiences will be introduced to new frontman, Chris Shinn, who joined the band in 2012.  According to critics in the US, Chris has been a welcome replacement, in a band that dominated the charts and packed out arenas around the world.

Says Shinn of Live’s pending visit “Australia has been at the top of our list since I joined Līve. This will be my first trip there and to say I'm excited would be a huge understatement. The bands history with Australia is legendary. Getting to reconnect with that is going to be epic!"

Live achieved worldwide success with their 1994 album, Throwing Copper, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and eventually surpassed sales of 10 million in merely two years. Rolling Stone and MTV both dubbed the album "one of the 25 Greatest Rock Albums of All-Time", while taste makers from Spin to The New York Times lauded it with equal praise.   They have since gone on to sell over 22 million albums worldwide and Live has been and remains today a global concert juggernaut.

Their latest album, The Turn, marks the band’s ninth studio album and original members, Chad Taylor (Guitar & Backing Vocals), Patrick Dahlheimer (Bass & Percussion), Chad Gracey (Drums & Percussion), who are joined by Chris Shinn (Lead Vocals & Guitar), have re-invigorated its sound with effusive energy and massive hooks.

Live at the Foreshore

Date:November 1st, 2015

In the 1980's, Newcastle was woven together with a solid live rock music scene and sun drenched weekends at the beach. In recent years the culinary revolution added to that fabric. Our streets and alley way filled with hole in the wall speakeasies and small niche restaurants where everything is about quality and their own sense of style. No wonder we were voted one of Lonely Planets top 10 cities in the world. Finally all those elements will converging in one place when LIVE AT THE FORESHORE  bring your best music memories to Camp Shortland on November 1.

N’fa Jones Touring with Remi

The first taste for 2014 of N’fa Jones forthcoming album Black + White Noise is ‘Money Better Come’. The title of the track speaks for itlself. ‘Money Better Come’ is a Styalz Fuego production with Kaylen Behr featuring on the chorus giving it that good ol’ fashion Summer vibe we all need.
Summing up the way N’fa Jones often feels the life of an artist plays out, the track comes with fun and clever video clip directed by Nic McRobbie. While reflecting on the fragility of life, N’fa still manages to poke a bit of fun at himself, while singing (yep singing) melodies, telling an honest story, and of course kickin a rapped verse to keep the Hip Hop alive.
Get a taste for it while N’fa is on national tour with fellow House of Beige family member and triple j Unearthed winner Remi through February.
