For its 4th annual season, Palace Cinemas invite you to experience the world's most sumptuous opera and ballet productions direct from The Royal Opera House, The Royal Ballet, and Opéra National de Paris. 

Captured -live' from these renowned venues and screened via state-of-the-art digital projection with digitally recorded surround sound, the 2013/14 Opera/Ballet season will showcase 17 passionate works from legendary composers such as Puccini, Verdi, Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Bellini and Mozart, at a fraction of the original ticket price, guaranteeing the -best' seat in the house every time!

Bringing these timeless productions to life will be a host of the brightest stars of opera and ballet, including Lise Lindstrom and Marco Berti who will perform the key roles TURANDOT, Carlos Acosta, the famous Cuban dancer who will star in DON QUIXOTE, Oksana Dyka who will bring her beauty and talent to the role of AIDA, Natalia Osipova, a principal of The Royal Ballet who will perform GISELLE and Mariusz Kwiecien who will perform the title role in DON GIOVANNI.

Presented in extravagant detail direct from London and Paris, the 2013/14 Palace Opera/Ballet season will screen at 13 locations nationally, commencing on 4 October and concluding mid-July 2014.  The following productions will be presented:

Puccini's TURANDOT  (Oct 4, 5, 6, & 9)
Andrei Serban's staging of Puccini's final opera is a glorious pageant of rich colour, dance and drama.

DON QUIXOTE  (Nov 8, 9, 10, & 13)
Carlos Acosta, Royal Ballet Principal Guest Artist and one of the finest dancers of his generation, presents a new production of this tale of friendship, love and loyalty.

Verdi's LES VÊPRES SICILIENNES  (Nov 29, 30, Dec1 & 4)
A great, neglected Verdi opera is brought to the Royal Opera House for the first time in an imaginative new staging by Stefan Herheim.

Verdi's AIDA  (Dec 20, 21, 22 & 23)
Flamboyant, spectacular and introspective, Verdi's masterpiece returns to the Paris Opera after an absence of more than half a century.

Tchaikovsky's THE NUTCRACKER (Jan 31, Feb 1, 2 & 5)

A young girl's enchanted present leads her on a wonderful adventure in this classic ballet, accompanied by Tchaikovsky's glittering score.

Wagner's PARSIFAL  (Feb 7, 8, 9 & 12)
Wagner's final, majestic opera returns to Covent Garden in an inventive new staging by director Stephen Langridge and designer Alison Chitty.

The greatest of all Romantic ballets, Peter Wright's production of Marius Petipa's classic is a tale of betrayal, supernatural spirits and love that transcends death.

Bellini's I PURITANI  (Feb 21, 22, 23 & 26)
In 1835, when all Europe was obsessed by Romanticism, the vogue for this, Bellini's final masterpiece - a tale of impossible love and vengeance set in 17th century England  -swept all before it, including the composer himself.

Mozart's DON GIOVANNI  (Feb 28, March 1, 2 & 5)
Don Giovanni, a Spanish nobleman, travels through Europe seducing women.  But when his actions lead to murder, he unleashes vengeance from beyond the grave.

LA BELLE AU BOIS DORMANT (The Sleeping Beauty)  (March 14, 15, 16 & 19)
Virtuosity together with sumptuous sets and costumes recreate the splendour of one of the most brilliant masterpieces in the classical repertoire of dance.

Puccini's LA FANCIULLA DEL WEST  (March 28, 29, 30 & April 2)
With the adventures of Minnie, who falls in love with a warm-hearted bandit, Puccini gave opera its first Western, a drama of souls stranded on the edge of the world.

Tchaikovsky's THE SLEEPING BEAUTY (April 4, 5, 6 & 9)
Journey to an enchanted world of princesses, fairy godmothers and magic spells in Petipa's classic ballet.

THE WINTER'S TALE  (May 16, 17, 18 & 21)
The world premiere of a new full-length ballet by Artistic Associate Christopher Wheeldon, based on Shakespeare's enduring tale of love, loss and reconciliation.

Wagner's TRISTAN UND ISOLDE  (May 23, 24, 25 & 28)
Under Philippe Jordan's baton, this classic production brings together producer Peter Sellars and video director Bill Viola. On stage the latter has conceived a world of parallel images: a world beyond life.

BALACHINE /MILLEPIED  (June 27, 28, 29 & July 2)
Alongside Balanchine's Palais de Cristal, set to music by Bizet, Benjamin Millepied adapts Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé. Philippe Jordan will be accompanying the Paris Opera Ballet for the first time.

Verdi's LA TRAVIATA  (July 4, 5, 6 & 9)
After Dumas fils, it was Verdi's turn to immortalize the Dame aux camélias in a cruel and sublime masterpiece, one of the repertoire's most gripping. Benoît Jacquot directs Diana Damrau in this opera of love and sacrifice.

Puccini's MANON LESCAUT  (July 18, 19, 20 & 23)
Puccini's first triumph returns to Covent Garden for the first time in 20 years in a new staging by Jonathan Kent.
