GO SOMEWHERE EXCITING AND HELP SAVE THE PLANET

Searching for that elusive present for someone who already has everything? Feel like escaping the rat race and doing something really different whilst helping create global awareness of the need to lead sustainable lives?

One of the fastest and most eco-friendly powerboat boats in the world, with the ability to submarine seven metres underwater, Earthrace will set off from the Vulkan Shipyard, Sagunto, Spain next month in an attempt to set a new UIM powerboat speed record to circumnavigate the globe - using only 100% biofuel and as a carbon neutral project.

Earthrace skipper, Pete Bethune, has announced that he is willing to share the experience with one extra 'guest' crew member to add to the core team of four, for each leg of the race.

Prices start from around UK£5,000/US$10,000 for a crew spot on the pre-race sea trials in February/March 2008 to and from Sagunto in Spain, to £10,000/ $20,000 for one of the shorter legs of the record attempt itself, and up to £20,000/$40,000 for a place on one of the longer legs. Paul Topley, the Managing Director of one of the UK's leading fire safety companies, Churches Fire Security (who were already supplying fire extinguishers and other safety equipment to the boat) was so excited by the project, that he has already bought his slot on the crew for the final leg back to Spain.

The income generated will help provide support for Earthrace, which operates as a not-for-profit project promoting renewable energy and proving that people can do their bit for the planet and still lead amazing lives.

Pete Bethune said, "Circumnavigating the globe represents the pinnacle of powerboat challenges, and at more than 24,000 nautical miles, is also the world's longest race. Anyone joining the crew will find it hard work - this is not a five star cruise. People will need to be fit and healthy, sleeping on board isn't exactly luxurious and there are bound to be some adventures during their journey, but it will be a trip they will never forget!"

Family and friends will be able to follow the crew's progress throughout the race via the live tracking system on the website, www.earthrace.net.
