Interview with Gregory Landsman

Can you explain how eating certain foods help our skin to look tighter, brighter and younger?

Gregory Landsman: The purpose of the book, Face Food, is to highlight the fact that our diet is one of the most effect ways to regain and retain youthful looking skin. It is based on the simple principle that to protect and build collagen we have to consume the foods that feed and strengthen the skin.

Can you share with us some of the foods that we should be adding to our diet to improve our skin and soul?

Gregory Landsman: There is a variety; Vitamin A, as an example, is an amazing vitamin for the skin that is very strong in anti-ageing benefits. Vitamin A helps the skin stay strong, increases electricity and helps the skin stay smooth.

Do we need to follow specific recipes, or is including certain foods in our diet, enough to see results?

Gregory Landsman: Really good sources of Vitamin A include beef, spinach, cantaloupe, peas and carrot. Vitamin C is also very powerful, Vitamin C is one of the most effective ways to increase collagen production and to protect our collagen.

There is nothing specific; as an example:
For breakfast: you can have an egg white, with spinach, with no added salt. You can also have a serve of fruit and one to two glasses of water, preferably with lemon squeezed into it.
For lunch: you could have a small tin of tuna with one chopped tomato, half a cucumber with some walnuts and a dressing of lemon juice and olive oil; as an option you could had cumin.
Those meals are full of the vitamins; these meals are simple but very affective.

There is good fat and there is bad fat; a lot of people remove all fat from their diet and what you will see if you do is that your skin looses its glow. Good oil helps you absorb nutrients, more effectively which is why it is important that you have good nutrients in your diet, but you need a good healthy amount of fat, too.

If we begin incorporating these foods into our diets, how long will it take to see results?

Gregory Landsman: This is not about a quick fix. If you want to make lasting changes to your skin you have to make lasting changes to your diet. Normally you can see changes within three weeks.

Face Food has an eating plan, for the week. In a week you can see a difference.

What results will woman see?

Gregory Landsman: It will plump up the skin, it can smooth fine lines and the added benefit of all of this is that you actually have much more energy. The skin is the largest organ on the body and everything has an impact on the way it looks. What we have on the inside shows up on the outside.

Face Value was the very first book in this series and this book shows you how to use actual food, on your face. You can use a variety of things; I show woman where to get the most powerful anti-aging ingredients in the kitchen. Face Value provides recipes to help the skin and the hair.

For example glycolic acid treatments are extremely expensive and you need about ten treatments at around$150 each; one of the most effective ways to give yourself a glycolic acid treatment in the purest form is pure caster sugar. You put 4 tablespoons of caster sugar in some water and then paint it on your face and neck, then let it dry and then rub it off in circulate motions, very gently utilising some olive oil. It is more effective than having one of the glycolic acid treatments in a clinic.

To give yourself a very gentle facial, slab yoghurt on your face with some honey. Yoghurt contains lactic acid which gently removes the top layer of the skin and the honey is a natural humectants which helps the skin retain its moisture. An effective moisturisering treatment is olive oil because it is full of Vitamin E and K. Squeeze half a lemon into two tablespoon of olive oil and you have pure Vitamin C and alpha hydroxy acid which will rejuvenate the skin, it is cost effective, it builds collagen and protects the skin.

Everyone knows to use cucumber on their eyes but people don't understand why it's really good. It is because cucumber is full of Vitamin C and what's great about cucumber is that it contains acidica, which strengthens connective tissue around that area. When products are pure the skin responds instantaneously.

Face Fitness explains how ten minutes of exercise can literally take ten years off your face. What exercise does for the body, this will do for your face. People inject themselves with Botox; Botox relaxes the muscle, whereas with this exercise you can strengthen the muscle and when you strengthen the muscle you build the muscle fibre which plumps up the skin and smoothes lines.
