Falls Creek Wombats Ramble

Australia's Longest Beginner Ski Run Open for Skiing and Riding at Falls Creek

Falls Creek Ski Lifts  announced the opening of Wombats Ramble, the longest beginner trail at any Australian ski resort. Falls Creek Ski Lifts General Manager, Francis Jackson says the opening of Wombats Ramble is a great start to the first week of the Queensland School Holidays.

'We have a lot of visitors from interstate here this week and we know how much our guests love Wombats Ramble," says Francis Jackson. 'It's great to see the excitement in the resort as more of the mountain opens for skiing and snowboarding, and it's a nice forerunner for other runs and lifts we expect to open later this week."

The opening of Wombats Ramble is the result of an enormous amount of snowmaking in recent days and nights. 'Falls Creek is unique in being able to draw on water from Rocky Valley Lake, the largest and highest alpine lake in Australia," says Francis Jackson. 'When the temperature and humidity is right, we have almost endless snowmaking capacity. That gives us incredibly reliable snow and allows us to offer our guests a Snowsports Guarantee."

The opening of Wombats Ramble also coincided with some welcome natural snow. Within a few hours this morning, the village at Falls Creek and the entire mountain were transformed with a fresh coat of white.

'Many of our visitors here this week, particularly young kids from Queensland, are seeing snow for the very first time," says Francis Jackson. 'The looks on their faces as they walked around the village this morning catching snowflakes was priceless."

Wombats Ramble is a 2.2 km green graded beginner run. It winds through the snowgums from the top of the popular Cloud 9 area to the bottom of the Falls Express chairlift.
