2008 Hardys Oomoo Sauvignon Blanc
According to the judges of the recent Adelaide Hills Wine Show, the 2008 Hardys Oomoo Sauvignon Blanc is the varietal best of the region.

The 2008 Hardys Oomoo Sauvignon Blanc was awarded the Trophy for Best Sauvignon Blanc of Show - presented by Stelvin, against some very tough competition in a region well known for its strength in this variety.

The 2007 Hardys Oomoo Chardonnay also received a Gold Medal at the Adelaide Hills Wine Show.

The Hardys Oomoo range was first launched in the 1870s by our founder, Thomas Hardy, who used a local Aboriginal word meaning good for one of his most popular wines.

The Oomoo range was relaunched in 2003 to celebrate the 150^th anniversary of Hardys, with a Shiraz, Grenache Shiraz Mouvedre and Unwooded Chardonnay from McLaren Vale.

In November this year, the Hardys Oomoo range was expanded to showcase the wine regions of South Australia, with the trophy winning Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc, a Sparkling Shiraz from Clare Valley and a Coonawarra Cabernet.

Hardys Winemaker Paul Lapsley acknowledged the outstanding competition within the Sauvignon Blanc category.

The Best Sauvignon Blanc Trophy is hotly contended in the Adelaide Hills, he said. To be recognised for the variety in this well respected region is a tremendous honour, particularly for a wine we have only just launched, said Mr Lapsley.

Since its relaunch five years ago, the Hardys Oomoo regional range of wines has collected four trophies and more than 100 medals at wine shows in Australia and around the world.

Hardys has amassed in excess of 2,700 awards across its regional wine portfolio and is enjoyed in more than 70 countries around the world.
