Ideas for Activities you could do at Home with your Child

Want to help educate your child at home? There are a range of activities you can do at home with your prep child to help them learn letters, words, images and numbers. See ten great exercises below:

.Model reading to your child every day and read to your child every night.
.Visit and borrow from the local library.
.Read your child's take home books with them making predictions from the pictures.
.Make a word list or important words and then read the words with your child. It's a great idea to make up cards with these words on so you can do them in a different order as a lot of children memorise the order of the list, rather than the word.
.Play -Snap' and -Concentrate' with the list of words and look for these high frequency words in text.
.Make a letter poster or sound book – find pictures of things in magazines that start with a letter the children would like to investigate.
.Play board games, card games and memory games to encourage children to follow rules and be a good winner and loser.
.Draw together and make patterns.
.Write the numbers from 1-10. Match the numbers with number games. 10.Most importantly, have fun!
