Kids in the Kitchen this Easter School Holidays

School holidays and the Easter break are fast approaching, which means thinking of new ways to keep the family entertained. With help from IGA, parents and carers will be able to enjoy cooking simple recipes with the kids, new release DVDs and a range of fun activities created by The IGA Family Program.

A low cost activity to entertain the kids over the holiday break, is the newly released family favourite Moana DVD available from 27 March for $20 , followed by box office hit Star Wars Rouge 1 DVD on April 3 at participating IGA and SUPA IGA stores*.

If families are looking for ideas to get the kids in the kitchen over the holidays, The IGA Family Program is a great way to help families with healthy recipes, creative activities and fun facts about how food gets from the paddock to plate.

The Family Program offers activities around three main categories:

Crafty Creations is a range of children's art and craft ideas (such as how to make a kite, cardboard box monsters and cereal box guitars) to enable children to use their imagination, perfect for school holidays and rainy days.

Cooking with Kids helps children understand what ingredients look like before cooking, as well as gaining valuable life skills such as measuring and easy to follow recipes.

Paddock to Plate provides children with fun facts and activities about where our food comes from, allowing them to develop a healthier relationship with food.

Parents can also enjoy cooking recipes from the IGA Four Ingredients range that are simple, fuss-free and child friendly. Example recipe ideas include:

Bolognaise Sauce

Chicken Carnival Cones

Beef Stir Fry

Caramelised Sausages

Basic Flapjacks

Baby BLTs
