Jazz comes back to Frankston

When: 8pm Saturday 5 August
Where: Frankston Bowls Club

Feeling like an old fashioned good time?

Forget big budget blow em up films and expensive restaurants and relive your fondest memories of yesteryear as you dance the night away to nostalgic tunes - because jazz is coming back to Frankston.

The Mornington Peninsulas own music icon Tommy Carter will be playing with his family band at a very special jazz and dance evening taking place at the Frankston Bowls Club on Saturday 5 August, from 8pm.

The evening will also include a special tribute to the late, legendary Smacka Fitzgibbon. Known for his dapper dress code - spotted bow ties, striped jackets, checked pants and two tone shoes - Smacka was born in Mordialloc and became a beloved star of both TV and stage and his live venue, Smackas Place, was Melbournes most famous jazz club in the 1970s. His daughter, Nichaud Fitzgibbon, continues the family tradition and is recognised as one of Australia's premier jazz stylists.

So grab your dance card and join Tommy Carter as he brings to life the classics of Smacka Fitzgibbon and other jazz standards in a nostalgic evening of fun, humour and an old fashioned good time.
