Kerry I'Anson joined Siemens Ltd in June 1998. She is responsible for a five-member communications' team that develops and manages Siemens' corporate brand, media, advertising, sponsorship, employee communications, marketing communications, Internet and corporate events programs within Australia and New Zealand. The primary responsibility of this team is to develop and implement programs that enhance, protect and promote the Siemens brand.
Kerry is a member of Siemens' Global Communications Council and the Asia Pacific Communications Council. At a global level the 37-member GCC is charged with setting communications policies and procedures for Siemens' 190-country global network. The 4 member APCC is charged with mentoring and fostering communication issues within Siemens' 16 country regional network.
Kerry has worked in senior communication positions for the John Holland Group, Great Central Mines, Centaur Mining and Jetset. She holds a Master of Arts in Communications and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media. She worked as a journalist in New South Wales and Victoria before moving to public relations in 1986 with the Insurance Council of Australia.
Kerry is a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia and an Affiliate of the Australian Marketing Institute. In 1995 she was a Victorian finalist in the Telstra Business Woman of the Year.

Where did you grow up? I grew up near Quilpie, in far west Queensland, on cattle and sheep properties.
What was your first job? I worked in an imported Italian fashion boutique in Brighton, Melbourne (hence my taste for ridiculously expensive clothes!)
What did you want to be when you were growing up? I wanted to work in a creative environment where I could use my imagination to its best advantage.
How did you get to where you are now? I started my career as a journalist before moving into public relations. I have now worked in PR for 15 years for various major Australian companies and leading business personalities. Siemens is my first international company.
How many hours a week do you work? Between 50-60.
Where would you like to be in ten years? On an island writing a best-selling novel.
What advice would you give to somebody embarking on their first business or aspiring to achieve extraordinary career goals? Remain focused. Never stop learning. Ensure that you expand your education, skills and contacts. Don't be intimidated or bullied. Don't be afraid of change. Always believe in yourself.
What do you class as your biggest career achievement? Being invited to join Siemens' Global Communications Council, which is a 37-member group responsible for setting communications policies and procedures for Siemens' 190-country global network.
What is the best piece of advice anybody has given you? Never be afraid to admit to your mistakes. It's the only way you can learn from them.
