Interview with Kristina Anapau

Question: Tell us about Sighting:

Kristina: Sighting is a paranormal thriller that will keep audiences on the edge of their seat. It is an excellent script, really well developed character and beautifully shot. I'm looking forward to everyone seeing it early next year.

Question: How would you describe your character?

Kristina: Theresa is very strong and intelligent. She is a filmmaker with a lot of drive to create great content for her projects and a great life for herself.

Question: Are you similar to your character, Theresa, in anyway?

Kristina: There are a lot of similarities between the two of us. We were also given a lot of freedom as actors to shape our characters on set- so I guess you could say, she became more and more similar to me, I suppose.

Question: What did you enjoy most about the horror genre?

Kristina: I absolutely love all-night shoots, genre films tend to take place (and therefore shoot) at night, Sighting involved weeks of night shoots. It's a wonderful bubble of focus to work within while the rest of the world sleeps.

Question: What was it like working with Tedi Sarafian?

Kristina: Tedi Sarafian is amazing. He wrote the script as well and so sitting down with him prior to filming to break apart the character and her motivation for doing the things she does was such a pleasure.

Question: How different was acting for film compared to television?

Kristina: They both have their respective pleasures and challenges. I can't say that I prefer one over the other- a great project is a great project. There is a lot of very intelligent television out there these days- wonderfully developed characters. Filming a feature, however, will always carry with it a certain nostalgic quality that television does not possess. I've been fortunate to be able to work on great projects in both mediums.

Question: Can you share with us any information on the next season of True Blood?

Kristina: We are a secretive operation!

Question: What's the best part about working on the True Blood set?

Kristina: It's an incredible family to be a part of- wonderfully talented actors, who are all absolutely lovely people off screen. The writing is phenomenal and it's a pleasure to come to work every day.

Question: What inspires you when creating your True Blood character?

Kristina: The idea that reality is malleable and that perhaps our daytime world is just as much of a dream as or dreamworld at night.

Question: If you could work with any other person in the acting industry, who would you like to work with?

Kristina: I really repeat Emma Thompson's work a great deal-both her acting and writing. I'd love to work with her.

Question: What originally inspired you to begin acting?

Kristina: The feeling when I got my first taste of how freeing it was to step into the soul of a character completely- the challenge of stepping into the soul of a character completely.

Question: What are you working on next?

Kristina: Another great film, BlackJacks, will be released early next year as well. I have a few films in the pipeline that I don't think I can talk about just yet. I have also been doing a lot of writing in my free time for several different publications- I enjoy writing very much.
