Lee Lessack Chanteur

Acclaimed, award-winning recording artist Lee Lessack will release his seventh CD this summer, celebrating treasures from the French Songbook. The recording, titled Chanteur, includes music from Michel Legrand, Jacques Brel, Charles Aznavour, Gilbert Bécaud and more. Chanteur is Lessack's first studio recording since his critically lauded duets album, In Good Company, was released in 2005. Chanteur is released in stores nationwide and online via LML Music/Allegro.

Lessack's Chanteur repertoire, which he sings in English and French, takes the listener from the streets of Paris to the Broadway stage, with influences and inspirations from Sinatra to Leonard Cohen. Chanteur was conceived and directed by Tony Award® nominee Brian Lane Green and premiered last summer with concert performances in London and Paris.

"My curiosity stemmed from the influence this vast body of material has had on the American singer," says Lessack. "I've always been a big fan of Jacques Brel and knew many of the lush movie themes written by Michel Legrand, but this journey brought me the gifts of Charles Aznavour - widely considered to be the "Sinatra" of France - and Gilbert Bécaud among others. Most French songwriters are poets and so I found that each song was literally a one act play."

Lessack's graceful lyric baritone and a sophisticated yet endearing persona make him a very popular concert artist on the international scene, with a busy calendar through 2013. Including the upcoming release, he has recorded four solo CDs and three with other artists. His sixth recording, In Good Company, was an ambitious and very popular duets CD, intimate and impeccably produced. It is a bounty of outstanding performances with music notables including Michael Feinstein, Maureen McGovern, Amanda McBroom, Ann Hampton Callaway and Stephen Schwartz. In Good Company received wide critical acclaim and earned both a MAC and a Bistro Award for Best Recording of the Year. His other releases includea live recording of his 2001 concert tour -Too Marvelous For Words: The Songs of Johnny Mercer- recorded at the famed Cinegrill in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and chosen for the preliminary ballot for 2002 Grammy Awards®; Mr. Lessack's self-titled debut solo album; the GLAMA Award®-winning, I Know You By Heart; the cast recording of An Enchanted Evening: The Music of Broadway, and a live recording of his critically acclaimed vocal trio, 3 Men and a Baby…Grand Salute The Rat Pack.

A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Lessack attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He makes his home in Los Angeles, where in 1996 he founded LML Music, whose catalog of CDs includes over 100 of the country's top live recording artists and performers.
