Pacific Rim Review

Cast: Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman
Director: Guillermo del Toro
Genre: Sci-Fi, Action, Adventure
Running Time: 131 minutes

Synopsis: When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end.

To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju.

On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes"a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)"who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Oscar® nominee Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth) is directing the epic sci-fi action adventure from a script by Travis Beacham (Clash of the Titans) and del Toro, story by Beacham. Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, del Toro and Mary Parent are producing, with Callum Greene serving as executive producer.

Verdict: Pacific Rim is best described as Godzilla verses Transformers, with all out action and colossal battles that will keep you strapped to your seat.

The storyline places you in a not too distant future were the world has united against a cataclysmic threat, were mecha-machines have been built to fight giant mutated aliens arriving though a rift in the ocean planning to exterminate the human race for their masters.

Throughout the whole movie you couldn't tell which parts were CGI and real which made the experience an awe inspiring adventure, when watching the movie in 3D you really felt like you had aliens and machines tearing each other apart all around you.

This is definitely a movie I would see again, and would recommend it to others.
