Pearl - The Janis Joplin Show
For the first time in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, rock/blues singer Anthea -Jewels' and her band The Cheap Thrills will perform Pearl The Ultimate Janis Joplin Show at The Satellite Lounge on December 9th giving audiences the opportunity to relive the passion of late '60s rock and roll.
Undeniably talented, with a voice that stems from the depths of a soulful heart… singer, songwriter Anthea (aka Jewels) Sidiropoulos has enjoyed a music career spanning over 15 years as an indie-artist. She has sung everything from originals to covers in Blues, Funk, Rock, Soul and in the likes of Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin and many more.
In 1993, -Jewels' travelled to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Texas and New Orleans for research into the late singer's life. During that time, -Jewels' met and performed in four shows with Joplin's longest serving guitarist Sam Andrew. She also interviewed several of Joplin's former colleagues, associates and family members who gave her valuable insight. These personal conversations have deeply influenced the show.
