Pilot

LegittRedd is living a complacent life on a ring of six fantastical planets. As part of his daily routine, he travels to and from the local penitentiary planet of Gorby delivering and receiving the newly convicted and the recently freed. His life lacks excitement, and the novelty of these interplanetary journeys has long since worn away. Destiny, being both swift and unexpected, strikes an unprecedented attack on Legitt. His life is immediately transformed, and in a little over five days he discovers that the world he thought he knew so well is not as it had appeared. His entire life has been guided and manipulated for a specific turn of events that are about to unfold in Pilot by R.D. Drabble.

"Ultimately, this story deals with the age-old struggle between good and evil," Drabble explains. "Legitt works in law enforcement for the Ministry, the all-encompassing authority that maintains control by the use of strong will and even stronger sedatives. The criminal world constantly strives to work within the shadows - Legitt's daily life spans both sides with his adventures taking him beyond his moral comfort zone. He has two forces acting upon him at regular intervals: Gabriel Broade, his direct Ministry superior; domineering, arrogant, devious, and Afyd Gellar; the crime boss of all six worlds, the exact opposite of Broade in all ways; self-confident, roguish, wily."

The six planets that make up the backdrop for this lively adventure story represent characters all their own and each is different from the next. They are Eon - a world thriving metropolises and original home world. Litton - A beautiful landscape with flowing fields and breathtaking scenery used as a luxury retreat by the elite. Grenn - a lush and fertile world used as a harvest planet. Puse - a world of rolling hills and valleys, untouched and quaint.Binor - in many ways a reflection of Puse, tainted by religion and tourism. Gorby - a harsh barren statically volatile world used for prisons and sanitariums.

"I am a huge science fiction fan," adds Drabble. "But I had never found any book to grip and maintain my attention. I wanted to read something I would enjoy, and be able to imagine the characters and their exploits. So I decided to write my own. Thus, Pilot was born."
