Christmas cheer
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas with Play School star Jay Laga'aia and his brand new show, Jay Laga'aia's Classic Christmas. A father of eight children, this master of kid's entertainment will join forces with the Sydney Youth Orchestra to enchant families with classical music, carols and Christmas sing-alongs.

Adventure awaits

Bestselling British author Julia Donaldson's beloved tale The Gruffalo transforms into a musical adaptation for the month of December. Follow Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark woods as she uses her wits to outsmart predators like the fox, owl and snake with tales of a fearsome Gruffalo – don't they know, there is no such thing as a Gruffalo?

Acclaimed circus director Mike Finch (Circus Oz) takes audiences on a circus cabaret sea adventure – Captain Hook's Pirate Party. Based on J.M Barrie's classic Peter Pan and Wendy, this interactive and immersive experience features fairies, crocodiles, lost boys and pirates galore.

They're back! The wildly popular children's book duo Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton have added another 13 levels to give us The 78-Storey Treehouse live from the Playhouse stage. With over 2.6 million copies of the hilarious series sold, this new installment boasts a Scribbletorium, a high security potato chip storage facility (guarded by one very angry duck) and even an open-air movie theatre.

Science spectacle
In January, the hosts of the multi-award winning British TV show Brainiac present Brainiac Live! – an explosive mix of science and entertainment with thrilling experiments like 'things you can run through" (walls) and the fastest way to spin in a swivel chair (jet propulsion).

The Brainiac team will also host hands-on whodunit workshops. Detective Academy workshops invite children to use forensics and the science of finger printing to find who committed the robbery at Brainiac HQ.

The stars of the hit ABC Me series Operation Ouch!, identical twin brothers Dr Chris and Dr Xand, return to the Opera House in January with a new action-packed educational show full of fascinating facts about biology and the awesome things your body can do.

Under the Sails

Creative Play is taking over the Opera House with The Game  – an amazing race through the foyers, up the stairs and on to the broadwalk. Follow clues from mysterious characters to complete your quest of discovery, creation and challenges.

Off-stage and around the sails there is even more fun to discover with the Junior Adventure Tour taking families backstage to see the magic of theatre from the wings, learn interesting facts about the Sydney Opera House itself and play dress ups! Once adventurers have worked up an appetite, stop by Opera Bar or Portside for a harbourside Junior Lunch. Families can plan a full day with a Junior Day Pack: a Junior Adventure Tour with souvenir photo, Junior Lunch and a ticket to The 78-Storey Treehouse.
