The Family Farm

Set under the blazing blue skies and in the golden wheat fields of Western Australia, The Family Farm is a colourful story of family life on the land, and a heartwarming romance about finding true love and following your dreams.

Izzy Simpson was raised on the family farm, Gumlea, and it's in her blood. She longs to take over the family property one day but her old-fashioned father won't have a bar of it. He has never recovered from the fact that Izzy's older sister, Claire, was killed in a farming accident years earlier.

To complicate things, Izzy is falling in love with Will Timmins, the town's bachelor boy and her sisters' best friend who lives on the neighbouring property. Will is falling hard fro Izzy, but they're both too proud to admit it. Will they find true love in the heat and dust of the wheat fields?

During the harvest, Izzy's father is seriously injured in a header fire and is flown to Perth- leaving Will to manage the property. Izzy sees this as her only opportunity to prove to her father that she is capable of running the farm on her own and Will lets Izzy take the reins. Izzy faces the daunting task of finishing the harvest, shearing and feeding the sheep, and coping with the day by day running of a large farm which she thrives on.

As Izzy gathers with friends under the shade of the Gum Tree Tavern to take comfort in her close nit community, long-held family secrets are unearthed, dreams are made, hearts are broken and lives are transformed.

Fiona Palmer is the real deal- a country girl who firsthand experience of rural living gives her great insight into Australian country work and life. With shades of Rachael Treasure and Tony Parsons, Friona has created a wonderful cast of lovable character, specially the feisty, hear-of-gold heroine Izzy.

Fiona Palmer lives in the tiny five-house town of Pingaring in Western Australia. She discovered Danielle Steele books at the age of 11 and is now writing her own brand of rural romance novels. Fiona received an Australia Society of Authors mentorship for The Family Farm. She has extensive farming experience, has managed the town shop, does the local mail run (2hrs each ways) and is a retired, third-generation speedway driver. She is currently working part-time and looking after her two small children while writing her next book.
