Does a Woman Have to Choose Between Finding Love and Having a Career?

Does a Woman Have to Choose Between Finding Love and Having a Career?

If you're like most women, you grew up hearing that even the most driven woman doesn't get everything in life. She has to make a choice and decide what's most important to her, meaning she can have a relationship with a fantastic guy (and potentially a family), or she can have a fruitful career. But she can't have both.

However, it's important to remember that where there's a will, there's a way. You only truly have to choose if you want to go all in on either your love and family life or your professional life. But there are many women out there who can and do find a way to balance both. Here are some things to keep in mind as you explore your options.

Examine your personal values

Whether or not to choose between love and a career is a personal choice every woman who is also an empowered sugar baby needs to make for herself. Many sugar babies maintain more casual relationships with their sugar daddies while they're still in school or working on getting their careers off the ground but eventually decide to move on. However, a sugar baby never knows when she'll meet a very special sugar daddy who inspires her to rethink her plans.

There's no one correct answer when it comes to what an intelligent young woman who's going places should do with her life. If you have high aspirations for your professional life, you should hold onto them and surround yourself with people willing to support them. But if you dream of being a stay-at-home wife and mother instead because you're all about family, that's OK, too.

Choose the right partners

Although some very driven career folks decide to forgo dating altogether until they've got their professional life together, that's not a realistic choice for everyone. It's natural and normal to want to meet people, date, and form meaningful connections with other people – one reason getting a sugar daddy appeals to so many young women.

Sugar connections can be as serious or casual as the two people involved want them to be. But it's still important to choose someone whose goals and dreams for their life and relationships align with yours.

If you're career-oriented, you want a sugar daddy who's going to be supportive (and even helpful) when it comes to the things you want to do with your life. The same applies if you're ultimately looking to be a stay-at-home sugar baby. Don't take up with a sugar daddy who wants to be with a career woman in the hopes that you can change his mind later. Relationships rarely to never work out that way.

Decide what sacrifices you're willing to make

Whether you decide to choose love, focus on a career, or attempt to balance the two, it's a given that you'll eventually have to make some sacrifices somewhere. It's also a good idea to decide in advance which potential sacrifices you're prepared to make and which you're not.

  • If you absolutely had to choose between love or a career, which is more important?
  • If you've already chosen one over the other, would you be willing to change your mind for a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity?
  • If you're considering turning down one opportunity in favor of another, how sure are you that you won't regret your decision later?

Sometimes, no matter how carefully a sugar baby plans her life, something truly unexpected happens to make her question everything. It's always a good idea to prepare in advance for these possibilities, even if they're unlikely in your particular situation.

Keep an open mind

Some of the most incredible opportunities in life are things a person never pictures happening to them and couldn't predict even if they wanted to. And it's not unheard of for people to wind up incredibly happy living lives they didn't initially plan for. That's precisely why the smartest sugar babies definitely have a plan while also keeping an open mind.

One thing to at least potentially keep in mind is that genuine love may be a little harder to find than a great career opportunity. Some people only get to dream about it, so definitely don't simply write love off if you think you may have found the right sugar daddy for you. But, of course, the opposite side of that coin is that a lackluster relationship probably isn't worth giving up a readily available chance at a great career.

Ultimately, the best course of action when a sugar baby is trying to figure out what she wants the rest of her life to be is to follow her heart. No one else can tell you what's right for you. It's something you will eventually need to figure out for yourself and by yourself.
